Faith: Life's Key Ingredient

By Jared Capello

What might be life's most key ingredient? Faith. Your faith is determining the course of your life. Many are not aware of where their faith lies and so they receive day in and day out, the same things they have believed to receive, that is, have had faith for receiving. Others with the practice of faith, have changed their lives for the better by shifting their faith in repeated and unwanted circumstances to new ideas and different expectations.

Faith is the captain of your ship. If you find yourself in a storm and lose focus of your destination because of the intensity of where you’re presently at, your faith goes to the worse-case scenario and too often, it plays out.

The secret to making faith work well for you lies in keeping your focus fixed upon the destination no matter what. It lies in being certain that you will arrive at the destination despite what the raging storm is telling you in this moment.

It doesn’t matter how familiar this storm is or how many times it has knocked you off course in the past. Your past never, ever, ever has to determine your future. When it does, it is because you’ve placed your faith in your future to turn out like your past. Most people unconsciously do this day in and day out.

Faith is working in your life right now. You need to ask yourself where it lies by finding out where your expectations are for your life in any and all categories from personal health and wellness, romantic relationships, career choice, finances and so on. For example, if you have an expectation that you will just get by this month financially then you will likely just get by this month financially. Shifting this perspective may not happen overnight, but it will definitely happen if you choose to shift your perspective from what has happened in the past which again, is completely irrelevant to the future, to a new, desired outcome.

Feed your new faith daily and it will grow. Starve the other by giving it no attention or thought of mind. When you find yourself feeding the old thought, just stop. Don’t beat yourself up or combat it. Change your thought to a better one. Change it to something that brings you joy to think about (fresh-baked apple pie, how you feel after working out, your best friend or a shirtless Chris Hemsworth). Once you’re there for a while, choose another good thought and introduce your new, positive faith-filled expectation to these positive thoughts.

If you are struggling with having the right kind of faith for your journey and life has become a predictable unfolding of familiar circumstances, know that it can change and it would be my honor to help you change it.
